Sr. Project Controls Specialist

HDR has an opening for a Sr. Project Controls Specialist to provide support to our project teams in the delivery of Transportation Business Group projects in the New York/New Jersey Area. This position with collaborate with our Project Managers and project delivery teams to support all phases of work. In addition, this role will partner with our Project Controls Manager in monitoring and tracking scope, schedule, budget, and quality activities for projects.

Description:

In the role of Sr. Project Controls Specialist, we'll count on you to:

* Establish WBS and develop and maintain complex project schedules for various phases of the project

* Develop and monitor project metrics, including budget, schedule and quality activities

* Coordinate with necessary team members

* Participate in project coordination meetings

* Conduct project site visits if applicable

* Conduct schedule baseline and schedule update reviews

* Develop staffing cost estimates

* Manage and enforce adherence to project controls practices and procedures, including change management and records management

* Develop and monitor key performance indicators and report to project and program staff

* Review project change documentation and ensure compliance with change procedures and contract specifications

* Establish project schedules, forecast and cost controls procedures

* Serve as the central point of contact for project documentation and reporting, including RFI's, submittals, transmittals, and internal and external correspondence

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely submission of deliverables

* Work with Project Manager, Accounting, Operational and Business Leadership for periodic project reviews

* Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering or similar

* A minimum of 5 years' experience in project controls work on engineering and construction projects, including planning, estimating, forecasting, scheduling, cost control, schedule control, and project reports

* Certifications (one or more): PSP, PMP, PE, CM, EVP, PMI-SP, CST

* Ability to interpret design and construction schedules

* Construction schedule fundamentals (including CPM), progressively complex scheduling techniques as well as scheduling software including Primavera.

* Functional computer usage including familiarity with QuickBase, Microsoft office suite software, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and Construction Management Software.

* The capability to actively progress knowledge in the areas of:

o Oral and written communication skills

o Interpersonal and leadership skills

o Coordination and prioritization of multiple long and short-term tasks

o Organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities

* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

* Preference is given to local candidates
