POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH SCHOLAR A postdoctoral research associate position is immediately available in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa. The successful candidate will participate in research projects focused on the study of iron metabolism in brain tumors. The ideal candidate will have (or be soon completing) a doctoral degree in cancer biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related field. The candidate must be highly motivated with evidence of productivity from peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations. Candidates skilled in in vitro and in vivo tumor growth studies with experience in gene editing / molecular engineering, flow cytometry, and western blotting are strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate should ideally have experience using SolidWorks, Graphpad, and Adobe Illustrator. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are desirable. The successful candidate will be joining a team of cancer biologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, and biomedical engineers and will contribute to the ongoing work in the treatment of cancer and other disease states. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment such as a small animal radiation research platform (SARRP), FLASH irradiation system, EPR spectrometers (2), Agilent-Seahorse XF Pro, and an array of pre-clinical glioblastoma model systems. The initial appointment for this position is for one year, with the potential for extension for a total appointment of up to 4 years based on interest and performance. This position is available immediately and will begin at a mutually agreed date.
