DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform a wide variety of maintenance and grounds keeping functions to help maintain the Pennsylvania Governor's Residence inside and out and to ensure smooth operations during events. Responsibilities involve working individually, as a lead worker, or in a group to complete groundskeeping duties, minor plumbing and electric work, carpentry and painting projects, and the repair and maintenance of small engines or other equipment. Your work will also be critical for supporting construction and renovation projects, practical security matters such as placing and removing traffic barricades and security equipment, and responding to emergency calls in the event of adverse weathers conditions or emergencies.

With our team, you will support the Residence's unique role blending private family life and public service. This includes take equal care in performing periodic maintenance on everyday fixtures and household appliances, as well as in moving and appropriately storing furnishings and historical objects in preparation for events. Effective customer service skills will be key for when your presence is needed during public and private events to ensure that all aspects of service meet the highest standards of guest experience.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Schedule varies based on operational needs. Work hours typically 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime to be expected.
  • Essential employee - required to report to work during emergencies and office closings may be required to work different shifts to accommodate the needs of the first family.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience with facilities operations and customer service

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
