DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform routine work involving food preparation, food service, and sanitation within the Southwestern Veterans Center. Key duties of the position include cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items; preparing trays; measuring portions; serving food; transporting trays, carts, and nourishment; as well as using equipment such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders. Your attention to detail and adherence to food safety protocols will be vital in providing nutritious and enjoyable meals for our residents. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 8 hours per day, 40 hours biweekly
  • Work shifts include 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, alternating weekends and holidays
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Previous food service worker experience

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and PPD testing.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
