Environmental Protection Compliance Specialist

In this position, you will be responsible for processing, tracking, and drafting all enforcement actions related to surface mine coal and industrial minerals. Your primary objective will be to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations designed to safeguard both the environment and public health and safety. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in managing treatment trust funds and maintaining accurate data concerning water treatment liabilities. This multifaceted role requires a keen attention to detail and a thorough understanding of compliance requirements, as your efforts will directly contribute to the protection of natural resources and the well-being of the community.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philipsburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of professional experience as a Sanitarian, Air Quality Specialist, Solid Waste Specialist, or Water Quality Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirement:

• This position requires the possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
