The successful candidate will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary team of faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching and student success. This position involves developing and delivering engaging lecture and laboratory courses in physics while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Teaching responsibilities may include Introductory Physics (PHY101), College Physics I and II (PHY111 & PHY112), University Physics I and II (PHY121 & PHY131), and University Physics III (PHY241). Additional courses may be assigned based on departmental needs and the instructor's area of expertise. Essential Functions Facilitates student learning in classroom, laboratory, and/or on-line; uses instructional technologies and incorporates active learning techniques; provides leadership to and observation of adjunct and dual enrollment faculty Engages in continuous improvement of curriculum, integrating new developments in physics and using best practices from physics education research, and participates in and collects course and general education assessment Works collaboratively with colleagues on assessment metrics, strategic planning, and creative problem-solving within the division, college, and district including, but not limited to participating in campus and/or district initiatives and committees Tutors/mentors/advises students on curricular, co-curricular, academic, and/or career issues Minimum Qualifications Master's degree or higher in the teaching field OR Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching field Desired Qualifications 1. Experience teaching algebra-based and calculus-based physics courses to a diverse student population, with evidence of fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. 2. Experience integrating active learning strategies and other student engagement techniques in both in-person and/or online physics instruction. 3. Proficiency with instructional technologies, including but not limited to data collection probeware and related tools used in classroom and laboratory settings. 4. Evidence of collaboration and teamwork through participation in departmental, divisional, or college-level planning, curriculum development, or problem-solving initiatives. 5. Involvement in co-curricular or outreach activities such as science outreach programs, dual enrollment initiatives, service learning projects, learning communities, or student organizations that enhance student engagement beyond the classroom. Special Working Conditions May be required to work at multiple campuses. May be required to work and instruct during evenings and weekends, and/or be assigned to teach on particular days. May be required to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
