SUMMARY:

The Craft Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality craft and safety training for electricians across the company. This delivers classroom, on-the-job, and blended learning programs that align with company standards and industry best practices. The Craft Trainer provides direct field support, assists in licensing and certification preparation, and plays a critical role in building the skills and confidence of our workforce. This position requires extensive travel and the ability to operate effectively in a variety of conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Facilitate engaging craft and safety training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Assist in the design and development of craft and safety training curriculum.
  • Apply instructional best practices to maximize knowledge retention and application.
  • Visit job sites nationwide to observe performance, assess skill gaps, and deliver corrective training when necessary.
  • Provide test preparation, coaching, and mentoring for tradespeople pursuing licensing and certification.
  • Manage training equipment, classroom environments, and other resources to support learning activities.
  • Track training participation, outcomes, and evaluations; generate reports on program effectiveness and improvement needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


COMPETENCIES:



  • Technical Expertise: Licensed journeyman or master electrician with strong knowledge of electrical systems installation, electrical code, and safe work practices.
  • Flexibility: Can shift between classroom instruction, hands-on field training, and one-on-one mentoring.
  • Resourcefulness: Ability to deliver high-quality training in varied or resource-limited environments.
  • Time Management: Skilled at prioritizing multiple training sessions, travel schedules, and administrative tasks.
  • Instructional Skills: Proven ability to facilitate training, coach employees, and engage diverse audiences in classroom and field settings.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to assess job-site performance issues, identify skill gaps, and implement corrective training strategies.
  • Commitment to Safety: Models and reinforces safety practices throughout all training and field instruction.
  • Digital Fluency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems (LMS).


REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in the electrical trade is preferred.
  • Prior experience designing or adapting training content and
  • Prior experience delivering craft training and instruction is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' field experience installing and/or maintaining electrical systems in commercial, industrial, or residential markets.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License; multiple state licenses are preferred.
  • NCCER Certified Instructor (or ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire).
  • OSHA 30-Hour- Construction training.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



  • Extensive travel across the U.S. (up to 75%) required.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in austere job-site conditions, including variable weather, uneven terrain, and active construction environments.
  • Must be able to use construction-site sanitary facilities (e.g., portable toilets).
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment at all times on site (helmet, safety glasses, boots, and gloves at all times; respirator when required).
  • Must be able to safely climb ladders and stairs.
