The PeoplesBank Internship Program is open for applications for Summer 2026! This program offers the opportunity to learn about the banking industry, expand your knowledge and experience, develop and grow a professional network, and learn about career opportunities in banking and financial services.

Our Summer Internship Program offers a full-time, 10-week experience (June-August) designed to build real-world skills and industry insight, where you will gain hands-on exposure to the banking world, develop leadership and workplace competencies, and learn how a mutual bank like PeoplesBank puts people first.

In your role, you will work on meaningful projects tailored to the department you will represent, supported by a structured training plan that includes on-the-job learning, independent study, and participation in community and industry events. This role is based in Holyoke, MA, and will benefit from both internal and external learning resources throughout the program. Departments hiring for the internship program are: Digital Growth, Risk Oversight, Retail Administration, Commercial Lending (Lending, Underwriting, Cash Management), Project Management, Human Resources, and Wealth Management.

Internship Learning Objectives & Expectations:

  • Company Insight: Build a strong foundation in the products, operations, and systems unique to each department, gaining practical knowledge through hands-on experience.
  • Banking Fundamentals: Develop a working understanding of the banking industry, with a special focus on PeoplesBank's mission, values, and business model.
  • Professional Development: Strengthen workplace and leadership skills through PeoplesBank Academy and a variety of internal and external learning opportunities.
  • Compliance & Standards: Complete all required compliance training and testing, while adhering to federal, state, and bank regulations, policies, and service standards.
  • Departmental Engagement: Host Department Advisors will set clear expectations at the start of each rotation, including:
    • Learning daily department operations
    • Navigating department systems and data
    • Understanding current initiatives and contributing to relevant projects

Education and/or Experience Required:

Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in a field relevant to the internship

Skills needed:

  • Proven leadership experience through involvement on campus, in the community, or in the workplace
  • Demonstrated interest in the banking industry, reflected through academic focus or prior internship experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and systems

Computer Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
