Summary of Job Duties:The College Communicator is a full time, MarComm-housed position dedicated to elevating the visibility and impact of UA Little Rock's colleges. This role serves as a strategic storyteller, content creator, and marketing liaison, highlighting faculty research, student success, academic programs, and signature events. The College Communicator ensures each college receives consistent visibility through monthly stories, event promotion, and marketing collateral, while leveraging templates and central resources to maintain efficiency and brand alignment. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field;
  • Experience using content management systems (e.g., WordPress) to update websites;
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and scheduling tools.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Prior experience in higher education or nonprofit communications;
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact);
  • Basic design skills (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and publishat leastone story per college each month, highlighting faculty, students, research initiatives, and partnerships;
  • Identify and pitch high-impact stories for external media coverage and university campaigns;
  • Work with college deans to identifyone high-profile event per college each semesterfor communications support;
  • Deliverables include pre-event promotion (calendar entries, social copy, basic marketing assets) and a post-event recap;
  • Review and update college-level and program web pages on a rotating basis to ensure prospective student-facing content is accurate, compelling, and aligned with institutional messaging;
  • Draft social content for distribution through central MarComm channels;
  • Create basic promotional materials (flyers, one-pagers, digital graphics, signage) to support recruitment, donor relations, alumni outreach, and legislative engagement;
  • Develop and maintainstandardized templates(including social media templates) that colleges can customize for routine needs, ensuring efficiency and brand consistency;
  • Work closely with MarComm colleagues to coordinate storytelling, design, and digital promotion;
  • Ensure messaging reflects UA Little Rock's brand standards and aligns with institutional goals.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills;
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
