We are building a small team of versatile and enthusiastic leaders to create new products for the PlayStation community. Our team recently delivered the new PlayStation Link, PULSE Explore and PULSE Elite products, recently announced the FlexStrike and PULSE Elevate products, and are hard at work on what comes next. We need an experienced and innovative mechanical product design engineer to help develop new products and features.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you own the overall mechanical design for high profile product development efforts. This senior leader will be adept at hands-on CAD design, as well as building the capabilities of the team and relationships with internal and external partners and business/product owners.



  • Lead overall system mechanical design, including personally implementing CAD of the primary architectural elements
  • Lead interactions with industrial design team
  • Manage the detailed design and validation with engineering and manufacturing partners
  • Anticipate and respond to challenges in manufacturing


Skills:



  • A technically strong and independent mechanical engineer with strong product design approach
  • Engaged at both the product design level (what should it do?) and the detailed engineering level (how should it be built)
  • Experienced with small consumer products and new product development from initial concept through mass production
  • Effective bridging from a small core team working with and within large organizations
  • Comfortable spanning from high level program strategy and management to detailed engineering implementation
  • Hands on capability in creative prototyping approaches to rapidly build low and high-fidelity prototypes for design and functional assessment


Qualifications:



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field, or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience leading mechanical design for small consumer products
  • Experience in the video game industry is not required, but interest and passion for gaming experience, digital entertainment, consumer electronics, and technology is vital


Working Conditions:



  • Small team environment; feels like a start-up within a large organization!
  • Travel (primarily international) required. Estimated 15%

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

In addition, this role

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$234,200 $351,200 USD
