Job Summary |
The Financial Aid Counselor will counsel and assist both prospective and current students/parents on the financial aid process. The position will review and perform
FAFSA verification for selected students and will counsel students on missing information. The Financial Aid Counselor will assist in all customer service efforts in the Office of Student Financial Services. The position is on-campus with limited, regular remote work arrangements available. |
Salary Range |
$21.15-$23.08. This is the hourly range for this position. The hourly range offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget. |
Essential Functions |
- Counsels students and families on all matters related to financial aid, verification, and billing.
- Conducts appointments in person, virtually, and over the phone.
- Assists with incoming communications to the office via phone, email, and other methods.
- Attends to walk-ins and provides customer service for in-office guests.
- Helps manage day-to-day document intake for verification and student employment.
- Processes student employment requests as needed.
- Assists with department communications and outreach projects.
- Reviews and processes FAFSA verification for selected students.
- Provides regular support for student employees, including daily functions and training.
- Leads presentations and creates materials for on-campus and off-campus functions/activities.
- Attends trainings and conferences in key areas and maintain an understanding of trends.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's Degree
- Customer service experience
- Strong communication and technical skills
|
Preferred Qualifications |
- Familiarity with federal and state financial aid regulations
- 1-2 years of experience in financial aid administration
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Ellucian Colleague experience

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements |
The essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds. Qualified applicants who can perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations will be considered.
