Role Overview

Eastman Kodak Company is looking for a Coating and Product Quality Engineer to join our Wide Roll Film Manufacturing division located at the Eastman Business Park in Rochester, NY.



The principle responsibilities for this position are to provide excellence in (1) day-to-day manufacturing support (quality, troubleshooting, and testing) of current sensitized photographic products, (2) owning the process conditions/procedures necessary to coat film, (3) film physical quality/uniformity improvements, (4) interface with upstream and downstream departments as film and materials move from one operation to another and, (5) participate in multidisciplinary teams on new product development initiatives.



This position is responsible for the coating machine conditions required to make photographic film and the resulting physical quality. The position suits a person who can both see the big picture and is interested in the detail of how things happen. The person who thrives in this position will enjoy using both technical background and people skills to make improvements and solve problems.



Job Requirements:
* Product assessment and improvement of both physical quality and performance opportunities (yield improvements, waste reductions, etc).
* Work with process engineers to determine the process conditions that result in optimum film performance; areas include coating, web conveyance, unwinding/winding, roll handling, electrostatics, quality inspection and reporting, data transfer from operation to operation.
* Product development and accreditation of new business opportunities or features.
* Participation on multidiscipline teams (business unit representatives, process engineers, synthetic chemists, manufacturing operations staff) to achieve divisional goal.



Skills Required:
* Demonstrated ability (through work experience or academic/internship/co-op) to utilize engineering skills across multiple concurrently active projects.
* A strong work ethic, high motivation, multitasking and ability to be mentored.
* Demonstrated aptitude to plan, organize, schedule, and direct projects and tasks and adapt to changing conditions.
* Demonstrated aptitude for trouble-shooting issues and assist in root-cause analysis techniques.
* Strong interest in hands-on experience with multi-disciplinary teams.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.



Minimum education level and experience:
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering within the last 2-5 years.
