Assembly Technician IV

Responsibilities:



  • Lead assembly operations under the Group Leader with minimal technical supervision, including, but not limited to, printed wire board assembly, conformal coating, potting, crimping, wire stripping, ultrasonic cleaning, coil winding, evac & backfill, component forming, painting, and fabrication of rigid and semi-rigid cable assemblies as required. Perform intricate and specialized assemblies including micro-precision assemblies and electro-mechanical assemblies. Conduct in-process testing, such as bench and He leak testing. Setup and adjustment of production tools and equipment, including but not limited to, conformal coating, staking tools, and precision measuring instruments. Serialize sensors and electronics as required to support the sales order.


  • Work from blueprints, assembly drawings, routing sheets, mil specs, verbal instructions, written process descriptions and visual work instructions. Assist engineering in developing verbal, written, and visual work instructions to ensure quality and product functionality. Set up and operate standard assembly processing and test equipment such as ultrasonic cleaners, BTU ovens, EB or laser welder, potting and extrusion equipment, leak detectors, mechanically fixtured testers, multimeters, LCR meter and subassembly test stations. Perform in-process testing, environmental testing, and final acceptance testing (ATP).


  • Maintain ESD and soldering (IPC J-STD-001) certifications including general, wire, printed wire board, and surface mount operations. Basic knowledge of computers and associated software such as word processing and spreadsheet applications as required.


  • Capable of documenting and recording the results of completed testing and the rework of products. Assess the level of rework by interpreting and analyzing data to determine the cause of component, subassembly, or system failures. Take appropriate action to rework components and ensure proper operation of equipment. Make recommendations regarding modification of assembly processes. Demonstrate the capability for using Standard Measuring Equipment (SME). Work with engineering personnel in the general maintenance of test equipment, process optimization studies, and tooling improvements.
  • Support company initiatives including AS9100 and Statistical Process Control (SPC) ensuring continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and products. Assist in guiding, directing, and training employees in various assembly operations as needed or directed. Remain flexible and willing to work in various work cells depending on company need. Report unusual circumstances or conditions to supervisor as required.


  • A04-Advanced : Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Proficient in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Capable of leading production activities to achieve required deliveries. Typically requires 5+ years of related experience.



Education:



  • High school diploma or GED.



Experience:



  • 5 Years minimum
