SUMMARY

Responsible for executing preparation and finishing operations on assigned work orders with precision and efficiency. Key duties include painting, boxing, broaching, balancing, and key-seating of components. Tasks also involve pulling raw materials and stick stock, measuring and cutting materials to specified lengths using a cut-off saw, and ensuring all work aligns with technical prints and quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Hours for this position are Monday - Thursday 6am - 4pm.

Pay rate starting at $20.80/hr, depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pull raw materials and stick stock according to work order specifications.
  • Measure and cut materials to precise lengths using a cut-off saw.
  • Verify material dimensions against technical prints and job requirements.
  • Perform finishing operations such as painting, boxing, broaching, balancing, and key-seating.
  • Ensure all tasks finishing meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area during and after finishing processes.
  • Inspect materials and finished components for defects or deviations.
  • Use measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to verify tolerances.
  • Document inspection results and report inconsistencies to supervisors.
  • Follow detailed instructions and blueprints to complete assigned work orders.
  • Track progress and update job status in production systems as required.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines.
  • Operate machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine maintenance and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Train to operate all secondary machines.
  • May be required to work outside of assigned cell at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, tasks completed, and time spent.
  • Assist in inventory control by reporting material usage and shortages.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on processes.

Critical Competencies

  • Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and aptitude to navigate production systems, input data, and follow digital work instructions.
  • Accurately measures, cuts, and finishes materials to exact specifications, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and quality standards.
  • Detects defects or inconsistencies in raw materials and finished components through visual and tool-based inspection methods.
  • Skilled in operating cut-off saws, broaching tools, balancing equipment, and other secondary machines with safety and efficiency.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and technical drawings confidently to guide material preparation and finishing processes.
  • Willingness to train on and operate various secondary machines and adapt to different tasks as needed.
  • Able to work outside of assigned cell at the discretion of the supervisor, demonstrating responsiveness to shifting production priorities.
  • Understand basic mechanical principles and apply troubleshooting techniques to resolve equipment issues effectively.
  • Performs routine maintenance and proactively identify equipment concerns to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
  • Demonstrates safe and effective use of cranes and straps for lifting, positioning, and transporting heavy or oversized materials.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Crane operation experience preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment required
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, measuring instruments, and machine operation required
  • Vocational or technical training in manufacturing, machining, or industrial technology preferred.

Physical Demand and Work Environment:

  • Work environment includes regular exposure to noise levels at or above 85 decibels, dust particles, light radiation, paint or oil products, and weather changes. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required to be worn during shift.
  • Physical requirements include lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, arm-hand steadiness, finger dexterity, manual dexterity, control precision, near vision, and hearing sensitivity.
