More than half the world's population sees AP journalism every day. The Associated Press seeks an Analyst - Digital Analytics for AP News based in New York City. We are a hybrid environment on site three days a week. Responsibilities:
- Analyze AP News digital ad sales inventory, audience, engagement and monetization data to uncover new insights and business opportunities.
- Implement and configure advanced data collection tools including Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to ensure comprehensive tracking and data accuracy.
- Build compelling data visualizations to communicate data-driven insight and create comprehensive dashboards and reports that synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations for engineering, product, and editorial stakeholders.
- Analyze user flows and content placement, identify trends and opportunities, present strategies for improvement, prioritize these efforts, develop testing procedures and guide updates to release.
- Analyze key performance metrics, pathing, site funnels and page performance.
- Work closely with business stakeholders (Digital Product, Editorial, Sales, etc.) to identify data-driven solutions for the digital ad sales business.
- Extract, organize, and transform data from multiple sources into structured reports and dashboards that enable stakeholders to make informed strategic decisions.
- Partner with development team to develop data pipelines for onboarding, transforming and exposing new data sources.
Experience:
- 3+ years of Web Analytics and Data Analysis experience.
- Previous experience within the digital publishing space.
- Heavy Excel experience.
- Hands-on experience implementing and managing Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4), including custom event tracking and conversion setup.
- Site Analytics experience; Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics API.
- Proven ability to extract data from analytics platforms and organize it into comprehensive dashboards and reports for cross-functional stakeholder consumption.
- Reporting Visualization experience with Tableau, Data Studio or similar.
- Advanced experience with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, charts, etc.).
- Ability to understand complex marketing, advertising and social media advertising data.
- Highly analytical with the ability to interpret data in a way that leads to actionable strategies and translate findings into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Appreciation for creative collaboration - comfort working with a team and lending a hand on team projects.
- Confidence and adaptability - the ability to propose new initiatives, monitor their success, and make changes when needed.
- Passion for digital information consumption and a keen interest in participating in ongoing efforts to find the most useful, interesting ways to present content to users around the world.
- Bachelor's Degree in Math, Finance, Business or Marketing or relevant experience.
Salary and benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $103,000 - 122,000 contingent on experience and other job-related factors. Employees are eligible to participate, according to the terms of the official plan documents, in a 401(k) plan, employer-sponsored health insurance plan, and are eligible for paid time off and holidays in accordance with AP policy.
