Summary/Objective

Responsible for operations in the Shipping Department, to ensure we produce a product that meets customer quality and delivery requirements. Directly oversees all personnel in assigned area. Observes, promotes and ensures compliance of all rules and policies maintained by the company (safety, continuous improvement, leadership, core values).

Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for assigned teams in the areas of operations, safety, continuous improvement and professional development. Directly supervises 2nd shift shipping office clerks and shipping/receiving forklift drivers, assigning work for employees.
  2. Train new hires to meet department and company standards.
  3. Coordinate shipping activities, including packing, labeling, and loading / unloading shipments.
  4. Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  5. Utilizing company ERP and TMS to prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, shippers, and shipping labels.
  6. Maintain accurate records of shipments, tracking numbers, and delivery confirmations.
  7. Perform quality checks on outgoing shipments to ensure product integrity.
  8. Promptly address and resolve shipping related issues or discrepancies.
  9. Collaborate with other departments, such as production, inventory, and customer service to meet delivery deadlines and resolve customer inquiries.
  10. Communicate shipping updates and report any issues to management nightly.
  11. Complete and submit organizational paperwork to include days off requests, employee evaluations, corrective actions, and various reports and checklists.
  12. Responsible for ensuring LCI quality standards are followed for assigned area.
  13. Participates in quarterly employee reviews and evaluations.
  14. Participates in any disciplinary actions.
  15. Ensure compliance of all divisional and plant safety policies and procedures.

  1. Must be able to work as a part of a team to achieve the company's overall goals.
  2. Must demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills (English). Bi-lingual / Spanish a plus.
  3. Must be able to read and process written communication including, but not limited to, work orders, schedules, and shipping documentation.
  4. Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  5. Must be able to operate various Lift Trucks in all elements as necessary.
  6. Must possess successful problem solving skills.
  7. Must be able to exhibit tact and diplomacy and maintain professional relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, customers, etc.
  8. Must be able to work under physically and mentally stressful situations.
  9. Must be able to prioritize and easily adapt to changes through the day.
  10. Must be able to focus on retention of employees.
  11. Must be able to ensure that good housekeeping habits are maintained throughout the shop.
  12. Must comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervision of 5-15 team members.

Pay Range

$62,000 - $65,000

Freedman by Lippert determines pay based on several factors, including but not limited to the position being offered, education, skills, work experience, and other factors permitted by law. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires 98% standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing ladders. The employee may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager. Some Saturdays and overtime are expected based on productions schedule.

Travel

Travel to local plants.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Basic computer knowledge, including the use of Microsoft office products. Experience with ERP and TMS systems a plus.
  3. Experience with shipping operations in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  4. Proven leadership experience in a similar industry.
  5. Problem solving skills.
  6. Critical thinking skills.
  7. Ability to work and communicate effectively with others
  8. Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and convert in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred.
  2. Strong organization and time management skills preferred.
  3. 1+ years of manufacturing experience.
  4. 1-3 Months related experience as a team lead preferred.
  5. LCI issued Forklift Operators License (training available)

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
1. Flexible to schedule changes.
