Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:
This is skilled work in the Public Parking Department. An employee in this class, under direct
supervision of the Manager of Parking, performs skilled functions in the day-to-day operations of
the Parking Department. Primary emphasis is directed towards the City's parking meters and
automated parking equipment in the City Parking Garages. This position is considered "essential
personnel" and will be required to be able to respond to emergencies as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Services, maintains and repairs parking meters and automated parking equipment.
* Collects parking meter revenues and transports deposits to the bank.
* Interacts with parking computer system on regular basis.
* Interacts with and directs other parking employees in the absence of the Superintendent of Public Parking.
* Places and removes "No Parking" signs.
* Involved with the handling of meter disputes and complaints.
* Operates a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices on a regular basis.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provides direction and support to the part-time parking associates and custodians in the Public Parking Department. This is done in accordance with the Manager of Parking.
* Carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
* Responsibilities may include assisting with interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
* One (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience with automated parking equipment and parking software.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES:
* Vehicle Operator's license with satisfactory driving record that meets insurability standards of the City's insurance carrier is required. The employee must maintain the license for the duration of their employment.

REQUIRED SKILLS (Communication/Language; Mathematical; Computer; etc.):
* Ability to speak and understand the English language.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
* Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Ability to be bonded, if needed, for the purpose of handling money.
