Overview

Join the effort to help California achieve its ambitious decarbonization goals! Couple your Energy Advising/Account Management experience with your organizational and interpersonal skills to drive California markets toward cleaner and more efficient buildings while supporting homeowners and small to medium business owners along their energy efficiency and building electrification journeys.

TRC is seeking an experienced and approachable Energy Advisor, with direct energy auditing experience located in, or willing to relocate to, the Sacramento area to join our team. The ideal candidate is outgoing and technically skilled with electric and natural gas energy systems (HVAC, water heating, lighting, etc.) and will perform and review energy audits as part of a utility sponsored programs serving residential and small to medium business incentive programs.

We are seeking team members who are passionate about decarbonization and assisting home and business owners to lower their costs through energy efficient upgrades of their facilities. Engaging with customers and having the desire to build and maintain solid relationships with local businesses, distributors, and contractors will be crucial to success in this position. You will act as the single point of contact for program participants, aggregators, and/or contractors from audit through to contractor management and verification of proper installations, and issuing of incentives. The individual in this role must have enthusiasm for energy efficiency, decarbonization, and providing only the best service for our clients' customers.

The Energy Advisor/Account Manager will usher energy efficiency and/or electrification projects through utility incentive programs, serving as the main point of contact for participants, aggregators and/or contractors working on participating projects. In this role you will assure that all required documentation is being completed, all steps in the program process are being taken, and all applicable program data/metrics are being properly documented and reported.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities (Duties):

  • Conducting energy audits at customer sites to identify all decarbonizing opportunities.
  • Providing energy advisory services
  • Record existing system conditions during the site visits and make energy efficiency recommendations
  • Presenting program recommendations to home or business owners and decision makers, along with reasons why they should move forward with the proposed upgrades, and their possible financing options
  • Communicating and educating commercial property owners, managers, maintenance staff, and contractors on energy efficiency and building electrification opportunities.
  • Collaborating with program contractor networks to train, educate, and support customer project bid acquisition
  • Working with internal operations and project coordination staff to populate CRM database with accurate project forecasting, market knowledge, customer information, and project documentation
  • Travel within territory using personal vehicle. Mileage and travel costs will be reimbursed.
  • Takes an integral role in project development and execution assuring projects are moving through the established workflows and processes
  • Tracks and reports on projects' status
  • Aids participants, aggregators, and/or contractors through the program participation process
  • Manages participant, aggregator, contractor, and client expectations
  • Educates participants, aggregators, and contractors on program processes, workflows, benefits, and expectations
  • Assures all required project documentation is complete, and correct
  • Assures all project data is correctly recorded and reported in the programs' databases of record
  • Capable of managing mid- to large-scale or complex projects or multiple projects simultaneously
  • Capable of managing multiple delivery workstreams and/or teams to execute work
  • Resolve problems by quick and adept thinking and implementing steps that address a recurrence in the future
  • Attend tradeshows and events as necessary, to promote and educate possible program participants and/or stakeholders on program processes, workflows, benefits, and expectations
  • Travel expectations as needed for in-person audits as well as client, and/or TRC internal meetings (30-60% depending on program needs)

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications are those an applicant must possess to be considered a candidate for the position.

  • Master's degree with 2+ years of experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience OR
  • Associates degrees and 6+ years of relevant experience OR
  • HS diploma and 8+ years of experience
  • Strong organizational skills with a successful track record of project delivery
  • Experience managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent oral, presentation, and written communications skills
  • Ability to managing competing priorities and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications are not required for an applicant to be considered a candidate for the position.

  • Sales or business development experience, preferably within the energy or HVAC sectors, or the design or construction industries.
  • Energy efficiency-related certifications are a plus, such as Certified Energy Manager (CSM) or LEED AP (LEED Accredited Professional).
  • Experience working with state agencies, public authorities or utilities preferred.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
