Cleans and maintains floors, carpets and hard surfaces in buildings at Boys Town.
SCHEDULE
  • Downtown Campus (555 N 30th St) Monday-Friday 1:30p-10p
  • Hospital (14000 Boys Town Hospital Rd) Monday-Friday 5p-1:30a
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Maintains floor surfaces and stairwells, including but not limited to the following:
  • Sweeps, mops, buffs, polishes, scrubs, strips, and refinishes hard-surface floors using heavy equipment
  • Vacuums, spot cleans, and extracts carpeted floor surfaces
  • May clean and extract upholstered surfaces and furniture.
  • Performs routine operational maintenance of cleaning equipment per manufacturer specifications
  • Performs routine and maintenance cleaning processes in areas assigned (i.e. classroom, gym, locker room auditorium, office, cafeteria, etc) in accordance with all regulatory standards (CMS, Joint Commission, etc), which may include but not limited to: general cleaning and disinfection, hard surface maintenance, carpet and upholstery extraction.
  • Utilizes appropriate PPE based on task and precautions.
  • Operates a truck-mounted unit while cleaning or restoring surfaces and upholstery; troubleshoots repair of floor care equipment as needed.
  • Orients and trains student workers new colleagues as needed.
  • Reports safety concerns when identified, i.e. tripping hazards, equipment malfunction, environmental concerns, etc.
  • Utilizes Boys Town vehicle to transport supplies and equipment to work locations.
  • Complete required training and competencies assigned.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to perform all assigned tasks per policy and as directed in a professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain a satisfactory and harmonious working relationship with all levels of leadership, staff, public, and other consumers in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of general Departmental, FFBH and BTNRH policies and administrative procedures.
  • Basic computer skills.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 23 years of age required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record required. (Not required at Healthcare facilities)
  • Pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check at non-BTNRH location required. (Not required at Healthcare facilities)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record preferred.
  • Ability to operate large scale vehicle preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-year 6 months floor care experience is preferred.
  • Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position requires constant physical activity often exerting 30 to 50 pounds of force, walking, scrubbing, bending, reaching, and pushing machinery.Subject to inside environmental conditions with some activities occurring outside. Occasionally subject to sufficient noise causing the worker to shout in order to be heard. Exposure to chemicals contained in cleaning solutions.
