About the Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Platform Purchasing, the selected candidate will be part of the Platform Team. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for providing support for strategic procurement activities, including spend analysis, detailed savings analysis, and sourcing process development and execution across product platforms. They will lead significant amounts of information gathering, data consolidation, and data refinement activities to successfully support various projects successfully. This cross-functional role collaborates with engineering, operations, finance, quality, compliance, and leadership to secure critical direct materials for battery, energy storage, and electric vehicle programs. It supports New Product Introduction (NPI) and mass production, together with the Category Team by developing and executing sourcing strategies, analyzing cost structures, and driving continuous improvement to enhance product development, cost optimization, supplier performance, and supply chain resilience across global teams. This is a fast-paced area, heavily influenced by rapid growth and economic conditions in the EV and BESS markets.

What You Will Do
  • Develop the Sourcing Plan by working jointly with cross-functional team and management projects by identifying key commodities, establishing SOR, source selection, and other purchasing milestones.
  • Represent purchasing at Project Gate Reviews and ensure critical sourcing dates are met to support various MRDs for product development stages.
  • Support cost book development by developing Program Cost commitment and purchasing savings opportunities.
  • Oversee program readiness by developing a plan for every part. Develop lead time for sourcing/tooling/PPAP.
  • Leverage purchasing resources by active participation in support of all team activities including internal/external customer gate reviews and build events.
  • Track supplier localization progress
  • Function as key voice for purchasing meetings and leverage resources for cross-functional activities and provide single voice on all purchasing related tasks.
  • Diagnose risks/issues and escalate as necessary to maintain the project schedule
  • Facilitate the purchasing process ensuring selected suppliers have cross-functional buy-in.
  • Collaborate with the category teams and identify link and leverage opportunities across functions and supply chain.
  • Collect lessons learned and provide platform team with continuous improvement suggestions.
What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, industrial engineering, economics, or related technical field with Master's Degree or MBA preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in Procurement, Logistics/Transportation, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, or related fields (automotive or other manufacturing industry experience preferred).
  • Possesses strong analytical skills and demonstrates expertise in technical applications.
  • Strong understanding of BESS and EV battery value chains, including raw materials (e.g., cathode, anode, electrolyte), cell/module/pack technologies, and supporting DC/AC systems.
  • Lead and support in evaluating and implementation of Global and Regional Processes and Procedures
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and analytics tools; experience with Ariba or similar e-sourcing tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Understanding of global compliance regulations, trade agreements, and sustainability standards (IRA, EU Battery Passport, etc.).
  • Feels comfortable managing large, complex data sets and can leverage analytical skills to drive and influence business decisions.
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving and project management skills and strives for continuous improvement.
  • Desire and proven ability to work in a fast paced, "rapid growth", and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to build positive relationships through communication, transparency, and delivering on commitments.
  • Aptitude to analyze industry trends and competitor actions and have a general curiosity and passion for BESS and EV acceleration.
  • Strong negotiating and team-building skills.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
