Job Summary
Our Boiler Service Technician III is responsible for performing advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial boiler systems. This role requires significant hands-on experience, strong technical skills, and the ability to work independently. The Technician III also provides guidance to junior technicians and ensures high-quality service delivery to TDIndustries' customers.
Essential Duties
Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of boilers, burners, pumps, valves, controls, and associated equipment. Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and combustion-related issues with minimal supervision. Conduct combustion analysis, system efficiency testing, and necessary adjustments. Assist with boiler system installations, retrofits, and start-ups. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Boiler Service Technician I and II team members. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, industry codes, and company policies. Document service work, parts usage, and recommendations to clients accurately. Serve as a technical resource for customers, recommending solutions to improve system performance and reliability. Maintain service vehicle, tools, and test equipment in proper working condition.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; technical school, trade program, or associate degree preferred. 4-6 years of hands-on experience in boiler service, maintenance, and repair (commercial/industrial experience preferred). Strong knowledge of boiler systems, including combustion, water treatment, pumps, valves, burners, fuel systems, and controls. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Experience with combustion analysis and system calibration. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Skills
Boiler Operator License and/or EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred or willing to obtain. Experience with control systems, PLCs, and instrumentation. Strong problem-solving, communication, and mentorship skills. Ability to manage multiple service tasks and work independently. Strong customer service skills.
