HJF is seeking an Information Designer with expertise in creating training materials and curating content in learning management system to help develop Human Performance Optimization (HPO) content for courses, trainings, research projects, and the Human Performance Resources by CHAMP (HPRC) website.

This position will be in support of the Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP) under the Uniformed Services University department of Military Emergency Medicine.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.



  • Create training worksheets and educational tools, review training and course curricula content at different stages from product development to learning platform upload.
  • Edit and proofread content (articles, infographics, slide decks, speaker notes, reports) in evidence-based health and wellness course curricula without altering the technical content to be presented
  • Input and monitor organizational workflow tasks and Standard Operating Procedures. Tracks and communicates progression to appropriate team members.
  • Ensure content meets or exceeds the plain language requirements outlined in Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 5025.13 - "DOD Plain Language Program" and meets Service-specific criteria.
  • Collaborate with a team of subject-matter experts, authors, and graphic designers to provide improved user readability and relevant content.
  • Experience creating 508-compliant versions of specified materials for website publication and assist with archiving edited final documents.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of employees and management. Ability to work independently as well as partner effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and customer service skills, with a focus on relationship management and customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of effective design strategies as well as regulations and best practices related to learning design accessibility requirements (i.e. Section 508).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to support several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude, including working knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive), MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard), and rapid development/production tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat and Illustrator), and EndNote.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 public trust investigation.


Physical Capabilities



  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in a remote setting.


Compensation



  • The annual salary range for this position is $64,200-$87,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
