SENIOR CONGRESSIONAL AFFAIRS MANAGER

What you'll do.

Are you ready to make an impact on health care policy at the highest level? As our Senior Congressional Affairs Manager, you will be the Academy's voice on Capitol Hill, building strong relationships with members of Congress and key health care organizations. You'll lead strategic efforts to educate congressional offices-especially those on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Senate HELP Committee-while shaping federal advocacy initiatives. Working closely with a collaborative policy team, you'll analyze legislation, track emerging trends, and craft recommendations that drive real change in health care. What we look for.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Health Sciences, or a related field is required
  • Advanced degree in related field is preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of work-related congressional, and/or lobbying work experience is required
  • Experience with matters relating to the House Energy and Commerce or Senate HELP Committee is preferred

Relevant education and/or experience exceeding the required qualifications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with legislative process, as well as a general understanding of rules and regulations is required
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization is required
  • Demonstrated customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to internal and external customers in person, on the phone and through written and electronic correspondence is required
  • Anticipates needed actions; plans and follows through with work activities; dependable and focused on getting things done to achieve goals is required
  • Demonstrated advanced oral and written communication skills are required
  • Demonstrated ability to be punctual and act professionally is required
  • Ability to represent association and present to a variety of external audiences and stakeholders is required
  • Knowledge of Quorum or similar government relations software is preferred
  • Strong presentation/public speaking skills are preferred

Travel Requirements: Some travel up to 10%.

Location: Washington, DC and is identified as hybrid (required to work in the office with the ability to work remotely part of the week).

Schedule: Frequent evenings and weekends required.
