Pay Range - $29 to $45 hourly (Actual base pay based on factors such as relevant experience, education, market, qualifications, and skills)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

CMM Programmer 4 utilizes precision measurement tools to develop inspection programs for coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and visual coordinate measuring machines (VCMMs).

This senior technical role leads other programmers, creates, and reports dimensional & other quality characteristics, using custom-written programs to generate inspection data for Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality.

In addition to performing calibration and maintenance on measurement equipment, they will represent the department in customer & management presentations, group training, and provide subject matter expertise in CMM programming and drawing metrology determination.

REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's degree in engineering desired

* An associate's degree or a Certificate in Quality is preferred (ASQ, AUKOM).

* Knowledge and experience with Calypso, MCOSMOS, PCDMIS, MODUS, Polyworks, Metrolog, Verisurf, CMM Manager, OGP Zone3, MeasureX, VDMIS, or Micro-Vu In-Spec, or other VMM software is a plus.

* A minimum of 5 years of active CMM programming experience, which can be verified, is required.

* Expert knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and ability to read, interpret, and apply 2D & 3D model blueprints to create functionally sound and accurate CMM programs. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate measurement and reporting.

* Strong math, analytical, pattern recognition, and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve complex measurement and production issues.

* Proficiency in capturing essential data, analyzing data, and reporting appropriate conclusions

* Self-motivation and the ability to complete projects with strict guidelines.

* Ability to plan and manage workload, and act as a technical lead for a CMM programming group.

* Troubleshoot CMM programs and resolve measurement issues to maintain smooth operational performance.

* Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve part quality and measurement processes.

* Devise strategies for system enhancements that ensure the long-term integrity and cost-effectiveness of the measurement system.

* Practical written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and understand directions in English.

* Ability to train others (CMM, measurement tools, GD&T, Blueprints, SAP, etc.)

* Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement. Effective and productive team communication, along with a group problem-solving mindset, is essential.

* 20/20 corrected vision is required for the job, including close vision, reading a computer screen, and using digital measurement devices.

* Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.

* Eligible to work in an ITAR environment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Inspects machined parts using CMM, hand tools, surface setups, optical comparator, and a variety of other quality tools daily, identifying and using the most appropriate inspection method for assigned projects.

* Writes new programs, including GD&T frames from blueprints. This data is translated into inspection program output to ensure manufactured products meet internal engineering and customer dimensional specifications. Will test, modify, or troubleshoot existing programs frequently.

* Tracks, updates, and stores multiple programs to inspect various parts at a time. Review the programming of others and ensure best practices are utilized.

* Generates dimensional data from the CMM program and downloads it into the inspection database for final inspection reports or other trending data.

* Verifies program accuracy regarding new parts and finish requirements

* Perform Gauge R and R studies as requested by engineering.

* Design, engineer, and QC check fixturing as it's made for new and existing parts.

* Develops and maintains technique cards or other process documents that clearly detail the setup and operating process for users. Review and approve the work of others.

* Familiar with and follow ITAR and EAR requirements and precautions.

* Ability to understand and comply with all ISO 9001, Semiconductor, and Aerospace procedures. Competently interpret drawings and specifications per applicable standards. May participate in audits and update and/or author procedures.

* Sets the standard for the operation and efficiency of programming resources and measurement accuracy.

* Maintains a clean workspace, including cleaning and maintenance on CMMs and maintaining P5S standards in the area.

* Applies a high level of attention to detail and reports scrap accurately. May participate in corrective action projects or investigations of suspected parts.

* Daily confirmation of parts in the SAP work order record. Conduct quality control inspections as requested.

* Work with operators and machinists to make sure proper inspections are recorded.

* May track and report non-conforming parts. Complete all quality-related reports and work orders accurately.

* Works with a wide variety of team members to meet inspection deadlines.

* Regularly trains other employees, including machinists, on the proper use of CMM. Will train less experienced CMM operators or programmers on Kyocera's machines and best processes. May host group training or attend off-site vendor training courses on new equipment.

* Must be flexible to changing needs, overtime, and priorities, multitask, and work as a lead or individual contributor as directed to meet manufacturing delivery schedules.

* Excellent communication skills across all levels with proven problem-solving ability in complex or prototype scenarios.

* Follows all safety and PPE-related work rules and processes.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
