Salary: $128.87-143.19 Hourly $128.87 to $143.19/hr
Aquent has an exciting opportunity for a VP of Human Resources in Pleasanton, CA! This role is 100% on-site. For this reason, we will only consider candidates who can comfortably commute to our client's office in Pleasanton, CA. In addition, to be considered for this role, you must:
- Be authorized to work in the United States
- Not require sponsorship of any kind for the duration of the assignment
- Be able to work on a W-2 basis. C2C or 1099 is not permitted for this role.

You will play a critical role in developing and executing a cohesive talent and workforce strategy, directly influencing organizational success and fostering an environment where every employee can thrive. Your Impact:
- Strategic Leadership: Set the strategic vision for talent and workforce as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, driving the development of a cohesive strategy that delivers on the organization's Employer Value Proposition.
- Transformative Change: Lead the transformation of the People Experience for a workforce of 1,300, identifying organizational needs and delivering solutions across the entire employee lifecycle.
- Organizational Design: Provide leadership in the design and implementation of a responsive organizational structure to meet long-term business needs.
- Business Partnership: Strengthen the HR function's business partnering capability, becoming a trusted advisor to leaders and managers on people practices and strategic employee issues.
- Talent Development: Develop a healthy talent pipeline, ensuring consistent high performance across the workforce through succession planning, talent and leadership development, and robust recruitment and onboarding programs.
- Operational Excellence: Manage headcount-related costs and drive operational excellence within the People function, ensuring services meet the needs of patients and people.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Talent and Workforce strategy aligned with overall business objectives and integrated enterprise People, Performance, and Talent goals.
- Lead the change within the People organization to create a leading-class function, fostering strong business partnerships.
- Collaborate with business leaders to bring the desired employee experience to life through effective people practices.
- Develop metrics to identify key workforce issues and trends, providing proactive recommendations and long-term strategies.
- Oversee compliance with federal and state employment law, as well as accreditation requirements.
- Guide critical decision-making by providing leadership in the development of organizational and people strategies.
- Sponsor and lead high-profile, people-related changes across the organization, ensuring alignment with the overall talent agenda.
- Lead, manage, and coach teams of people and talent professionals, fostering their development and creating an attractive proposition for employees and prospects.
- Partner with the President and Compensation Committee to manage executive compensation and benefits.
- Collaborate with the President and the Executive Leadership Team on talent acquisition and retention, promotions, compensation and benefits strategy, succession planning, and career development.
- Coach and advise leaders and managers on strategic and complex employee issues, offering pragmatic solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree.
- Prior experience as Head of Human Resources or a similar senior HR leadership position.
- 7-10 years of related human resources experience.
- Experience within the healthcare industry.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Broad technical HR knowledge encompassing federal and state employment legislation, leading practices across the talent lifecycle, employee experience, employee engagement, and organizational change.
- Strong business acumen with a demonstrated understanding of business strategy.
- Ability to build deep and influential business partnerships throughout the organization, demonstrating an understanding of business fundamentals and decision-making processes.
- Ability to take an enterprise view and play a broader role in the Executive Leadership Team, integrating people considerations into strategy and discussions.
- Strong analytical abilities to illustrate the impact of the People Experience on the organization, leveraging available data for fact-driven strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrated success in championing change and driving transformation programs to successful completion.
- Ability to embrace change and view challenges as business opportunities.
- Demonstrated success working in a complex organization across various functions, cultures, and levels.
- Demonstrated success in people management and development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with the Executive Leadership Team, other leaders, and the Board.
- Ability to challenge the status quo.
- Experience with Human Capital Management (HCM) systems and digital HR tools.
- SPHR - Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification.
