Description

Monitor manage and maintain all College server computers and Storage Area Network (SAN) equipment. Assist in the monitoring managing and maintaining of all College thin/zero clients client virtual machine operating systems client software printers laptops and other peripheral equipment. Assist in the installation maintenance and repair of software on College computers. Perform primary administrative functions of email Backups and other application servers and software. Work with the existing College network infrastructure to maintain maximum runtime for all equipment.


Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Monitor all physical servers virtual servers and desktops and storage appliances proactively.
  2. Manage install and upgrade all of the College's Virtual infrastructure including all of our Cloud footprint.
  3. Install computers and software and assist with the installation of network equipment.
  4. Manage printers and computer equipment on the network.
  5. Analyze current issues to find alternatives to improve performance and function utilizing current and new technologies.
  6. Manage and oversee everyday e-mail functions.
  7. Manage and oversee everyday application server functions.
  8. Manage and oversee everyday Active Directory functions.
  9. Use scripting (especially Powershell) to manage automation techniques and methods.
  10. Assist with the creation and maintenance of custom lab configurations.
  11. Monitor and help resolve trouble ticket issues for the entire institution in a professional and timely manner. Follow escalation procedures when appropriate.
  12. Assist with College voice video and data convergence technologies.
  13. Assist with the management of print consumption and tracking for College printers.
  14. Recommend improvements in the environment using the structure of Continuous Quality Improvement tools and techniques.
  15. Utilize Project Management tools and techniques to effectively plan projects and work load as well as day to day activities.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in related field and relevant work experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience Requirements:
    Personal computers, client operating systems, and common application software, server operating systems, networking protocols.

Knowledge:
    Current versions of client operating systems, application software, virtual machines, printers, network, and server functions. Continuous Quality Improvement techniques. Project Management techniques.

Skills:
    Ability to work with a variety of software packages and with different hardware configurations. Ability to perform research on, and implement new and emerging technologies.

Personal Requirements:
    Ability to work with others, excellent communication skills and problem solving ability with a professional attitude. The ability to work in a team environment with individual accountability. Detail oriented, self-starter who enjoys relating to a diverse population of students, staff and public in a fast paced work environment with multiple interruptions. Ability to meet and exceed customer needs while involving the customer. Ability to listen and respond with empathy.

Familiar with Azure Cloud/365 preferred.
