Attention Richmond Location: Chesterfield, VA - Midlo , VA Break Into IT While Supporting Public Safety Looking to get your foot in the door with IT? This is your chance. TEKsystems' client is working directly with the State Police to outfit specialized law enforcement vehicles with advanced low voltage systems and electronics. You'll be part of a hands-on team installing copper and fiber cabling, cameras, LMRs (Land Mobile Radios), and other tech that powers mission-critical operations. This role is perfect for individuals with experience in automotive wiring, mechanical work, or low voltage cabling who are ready to learn and grow in the IT field. Full training is provided - all you need is a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. What You'll Be Doing: * Install Cat5 and Cat6 cabling in police vehicles * Set up audiovisual and CCTV systems * Perform punchdowns and structured cabling tasks * Assist with fiber optic and copper installations * Support wireless infrastructure projects at local cell sites when needed * Learn specialized techniques unique to law enforcement vehicle builds Ideal Backgrounds: * Automotive wiring or mechanical experience * Low voltage cabling (Cat5/Cat6, CCTV, AV) * IT wiring or structured cabling knowledge * Strong reliability and eagerness to learn Top Skills: * Cat5 & Cat6 Installation * Audiovisual Systems * Cabling & Punchdown * Low Voltage & CCTV Why This Role Stands Out: * Training provided on specialized systems * Opportunity to transition into IT * Work that supports public safety * Hands-on, high-impact projects Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
