Purpose

This position leads the daily operations of the University Housing and Dining (UHD) Human Resources office, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, and employee experience. This customer-facing leadership role oversees the HR service desk and team, serving as the central hub for HR support across UHD. The position ensures timely, accurate, and compliant HR service delivery while fostering a collaborative, data-informed, and solutions-oriented environment through cross-functional partnerships, team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the HR customer service desk, ensuring prompt, professional, and solution-oriented support for managers, staff, and applicants. Serve as a primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries. Supervise full-time staff and student employees, assigning tasks, providing coaching and mentorship, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting professional development to ensure high-quality HR service delivery. Apply systems thinking to analyze employee data and generate actionable reports, partnering with the Associate Director of HR and the UHD HR Team to inform decision-making and drive continuous service improvements.

  • Lead initiatives to enhance onboarding and customer service experiences, under the guidance of the Associate Director of Human Resources, with a focus on continuous improvement and delivering a five-star experience for employees and stakeholders. Oversee onboarding processes, ensuring alignment with institutional best practices and compliance requirements to support a seamless and engaging employee experience. Serve as a liaison with campus partners to coordinate background checks, I-9 verification, compliance training, and employee records management, ensuring timely and accurate completion of onboarding tasks.

  • Oversee and triage incoming HR service requests received through the ticketing system, office walk-ins, and email, ensuring prompt and professional resolution or escalation. Ensure accurate and timely processing of HR transactions in Workday, including payroll updates, employee lifecycle changes, and recruitment actions. Monitor and manage HR workflows, proactively identifying and addressing bottlenecks to meet payroll and operational deadlines to maintain service levels.

  • Ensure adherence to UT policies and procedures, with a focus on maintaining confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive HR documentation. Oversee and maintain HR filing systems and records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university guidelines. Manage the collection, organization, and timely processing of recurring employment documentation. Identify and escalate complex or sensitive HR issues to the HR leadership team, providing context and recommendations to support informed decision-making.

  • Lead and contribute to strategic HR initiatives and cross-functional projects that support organizational goals and enhance operational effectiveness. Provide high-level support to the Associate Director of HR, including coordination with the HR Compliance team and other functional leaders. Serve as a backup to HR Leadership team members, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making within the Human Resources department. Actively participate in the Human Resources Leadership Team, collaborating regularly with HR colleagues to advance UHD priorities and a cohesive HR strategy. Promote effective interdepartmental communication, facilitating collaboration and information sharing across units. Assist in the design and delivery HR-related training programs, tailored to meet the needs of staff and leadership across the organization. Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the evolving needs of the department.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, social sciences, public administration or a related field.

  • Five years of experience in human resources administration or related field.

  • Use of personal computer and other standard office equipment.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • More than five years of experience in human resources administration.

  • At least two years of supervisory experience.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • HR Certification.

  • Experience working with sensitive and confidential information in an office setting.

  • Experience working in a customer service environment.

  • Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills.

Salary Range

$70,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Work Shift
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00AM -5:00PM, hours days may vary due to business needs. This position will be required to work on campus.
