Description

The Concord Parks and Recreation Department is actively seeking an outgoing, enthusiastic, and energetic individual to join our team as permanent part-time Recreation Specialists.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Act as the "Manager on Duty" at the city-wide community center, ensuring smooth operations during shifts.

- Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, answering questions, entering class registration and addressing questions.

- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all guests.

- Collaborate with other staff members to create a positive experience for visitors.

- Help with administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling and record-keeping.

Qualifications:

- Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required.

- Previous experience in recreation, customer service, or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs building supervision duties, which include accepting class registration, using computers, and cash handling.

Set up and take down for classes and public meetings.

Minor cleaning of rooms - pick up trash, sweep floors as needed.

Responsible for securing building at the end of day.

Maintains inventory of all supplies required to perform the duties of the position.

May assist with supervision of recreation programs and instructors

Performs other related duties as assigned.



Typical Qualifications

Associates Degree in education, recreation or closely related field of study and at least 2 years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience working specifically with Senior Citizens will be considered. Applicants must have current Red Cross First Aid and Infant & Child CPR. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older and will be required to pass a Criminal Background Check and Driving Check.

Knowledge of:

Working with a diverse client base, knowledge of various computer software programs, and providing exceptional customer service.

Communicate with patrons using facility and give directions to location of programs and events

Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.

Use of Computer and telephones are required

Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
