The UCI Paul Merage School of Business develops and equips leaders with critical business and leadership skills needed to succeed through programs that are continually adapted to address the ever-changing social, technological and economic opportunities and challenges in our digitally driven world. Your Role on the Team

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Development engages in $250,000 of annual fundraising at both the annual giving and major gift level, provides project management, and may provide limited administrative support. The scope of responsibilities include: qualification, cultivation, and solicitation, of new and existing donors, donor engagement, meeting metrics, development and coordination of fundraising programs, development of collateral material, presentations, newsletters, stewardship, and coordination of leadership meetings. The incumbent performs coordination of complex duties that engages with confidential and sensitive information of a broad scope related to donor relations, annual and major gift fundraising, and public relations. Incumbent is a motivated individual willing to partner with development officers, administration and faculty in priority areas of identified school or unit to create opportunities for friends, alumni and corporations to give.

Note: This is a one-year contract position with a potential for extension.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $34.29- $40.97 (Hourly).


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
  • Good written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
  • Good organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Skills in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to use MS Office programs, donor management databases, and familiarity with the Internet to conduct searches.
  • Ability to distinguish differences between types of gifts and the giving minimums associated with the various types (annual gift, multi-year commitment, endowed scholarships, endowed chair, planned gift, corporate and foundation relations, etc.)
  • Demonstrate a foundation of knowledge regarding the fundraising cycle stages/processes as defined by University Advancement and UCI.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of UCI policies and procedures, including but not limited to solicitation and acceptance of gifts, alumni and support group policies, and naming policies
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Must possess a valid California driver license and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program
  • One to two years of experience in a development setting
  • Experience in independently planning all aspects of special events including developing and managing a budget
  • Experience with marketing tools: data visualization, image and design tools, social media, and productivity management

Preferred:

  • Skill to develop reports, proposals and external relations materials.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of UCI policies and accounting forms such as invoices, travel vouchers, purchase orders, and check requests.

Special Conditions:

  • May work long hours to meet fundraising commitments.
  • May be required to drive on occasion to perform the routine or essential job responsibilities for the position.
  • Hybrid position with some onsite work expected each week.
