What you'll do

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an onsite Production Control Planner to join our dynamic team in Tempe, AZ!

As a Production Control Planner at Viasat, you'll be a central part of our manufacturing operations, responsible for planning and executing the production flow. Our team acts as the backbone of the process, ensuring materials and equipment move seamlessly to meet customer deadlines. This role offers an end-to-end view of the manufacturing process and supply chain, with the opportunity to support various programs, including those for space flight, government, and the military.


The day-to-day

  • Work with Operation Program Managers, Program Managers, and Planning to set/maintain/adjust production schedules and priorities for assigned programs.
  • Analyze MRP output to determine production requirements for assigned programs.
  • Ensure correct setup of planning attributes for new products and parts.
  • Enable build readiness by validating material availability and delivery dates with Planning.
  • Maintain system data integrity and release work orders based on system requirements.
  • Review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and prepare implementation plans accordingly.
  • Manage and track consignment builds at outside vendors (via work orders).
  • Support rework and other non-standard work orders as necessary.
  • Monitor aged work orders, discrepant material transactions, and inventory in WIP locations.
  • Monitor and manage applicable operation steps in MES system (Solumina).
  • Verify all production documents and transactions are completed for next-level production or delivery.
  • Verify delivery instructions, process shipping documents, and notify shipping department for shipment.
  • Provide daily priorities to Expeditors for tactical coordination of parts and materials.

What you'll need

  • 1+ years proven track record working in Operations, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to maintain a detail-oriented and organized approach to your work.
  • A willingness to follow established processes and procedures, with a flexible and proactive approach to unexpected changes.

  • Basic knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for analysis, tracking, and reporting.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

  • A curious mindset with an interest in learning about production, planning, and inventory management.
  • Familiarity working in a low-volume high-mix production environment.
  • Experience with or a strong desire to utilize Solumina and Oracle for daily tasks.


Salary range

$49,000.00 - $77,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $61,000.00- $91,000.00/ annually
