We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Deputy Project Manager to oversee government construction projects. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Deputy Program Manager will manage day-to-day project operations, ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, and coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and government stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, process-driven execution, and a solutions-focused mindset to deliver projects on schedule, within scope, and in compliance with all contractual and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Program Manager and provide regular project updates, including government-mandated reports.
- Prepare agendas and participate in subcontractor, vendor, and government agency meetings.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and regulatory documentation.
- Develop, manage, and update project schedules to meet government milestones and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and government representatives.
- Draft scopes of work and ensure compliance with government contracts, regulations, and safety standards.
- Prepare detailed project documentation, including process flows, construction plans, client correspondence, and compliance reports.
- Identify project risks and provide proactive, solution-oriented recommendations.
- Maintain a process-driven approach to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture/Design, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing construction projects, preferably with government or public sector contracts.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and submittals.
- Knowledge of government contracts, procurement requirements, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with government project management systems preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting professional correspondence for clients and regulatory agencies.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Independent, self-motivated professional who also takes direction and guidance when provided.
- Solution-oriented mindset with demonstrated ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements.
