Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join us as aSenior Accounts Payable Analyst!

About the role

As a Senior Accounts Payable Analyst, you will serve as a subject matter expert and provide direct support to internal and external partners in managing the full-cycle Accounts Payable process. You will oversee daily AP operations, including invoice review, vendor setup approvals, and ensuring accurate and timely payments in compliance with company policies and procedures. You will also act as a systems expert, working closely with the Finance Pod to maximize the functionality and efficiency of the AP technology stack.

What you will do



  • Manage and support the full-cycle Accounts Payable process, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, payment runs, and compliance with TIN, 1099, and sales & use tax regulations.
  • Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, generating reports, and ensuring timely completion of AP-related tasks.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to the AP team, resolving complex issues, guiding process improvements, and ensuring effective use of AP systems and tools.
  • Drive automation and optimization initiatives by mapping workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and collaborating cross-functionally to implement scalable solutions.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, including AP reports, balance sheet reconciliations, trend analysis, and support for business and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Finance, and Treasury to enhance integration, resolve issues, and support broader finance initiatives.

Compensation

Salary Range: $70,00 - $117,600 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who You Are:



  • High School Diploma is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of related work experience, with industry experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Experienced with general ledger and financial systems; Lawson, Hyperion, Essbase, and Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred
  • Familiar with electronic invoice approval workflows and AP automation tools
  • Strong reconciliation, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure
  • A proactive self-starter and collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, professional environment
