Overview
The Compliance Paralegal will provide critical legal and regulatory support within a fast-paced medical device environment. This role involves conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing documents, and supporting healthcare compliance, litigation and regulatory processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of healthcare-related legal frameworks, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for healthcare compliance, licensing, legal and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and revise compliance related documentation, policies, reports, documents, including letter agreements; contracts, correspondence.
- Support documentation completion to facilitate licensing, credentialing and Medicare/Medicaid enrollment and revalidation processes.
- Assist in preparing for and responding to audits and reviews including compliance, regulatory and accreditation.
- Organize and maintain contracts, case files, ensuring all documents are properly managed/ filed and accessible.
- Communicate with employees, consultants and other parties to schedule meetings and gather/prepare supporting information.
- Submit documents as needed to regulatory bodies, accreditation agencies, state/federal agencies, law firms, insurers and other entities.
- Monitor and support record retention policies/processes, legal holds, risk assessment processes
- Prepare and complete responses to subpoenas, maintain visibility to responsive deadlines for cases/legal matters, contracts, and legal, compliance and regulatory projects.
- Maintain confidentiality of all clients, employees, and company information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
- Associate's degree in paralegal studies or related field.
- Paralegal certification from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a paralegal or legal support role.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field.
- Experience in healthcare compliance, medical device regulation, or compliance.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of relevant state and federal healthcare laws including HIPAA, Open Payments, Anti-kickback, Fraud, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, legal terminology, procedures, and documentation specifically related to healthcare compliance.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
Below is the starting salary range for this position, although offers may differ based on the candidate's location, job-specific knowledge, skills and experience.
$25.77 - $36.04 / HR
