SUMMARY


Performs a variety of duties including mold pre-balancing; for special work orders, determines which equipment to run mold on; ganging molds; making minor repairs on and off equipment; maintaining mold location inventory; maintaining logs and diagrams for mold identification numbers; ordering and maintaining mold balancing and repair parts inventory; filling in for Roto Cast Operator.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPNSIBILITIES



  • Works from production orders, mold logbook, established written and verbal procedures and instructions.
  • Operates forklift vehicles, TIG/MIG welding equipment. Uses hand and small power tools.Operates mold-balancing equipment.
  • Identifies special orders including noting on order equipment to run mold on; informs lead person of significant situations. Locates mold; removes from storage rack, transports mold to pre-balancing area. Checks and/or pre-balances molds as needed.
  • Pre-balances molds; balance slids and bodies against each other; installs mold with spider and post to balance.
  • Computes weights needed including computation for resin weights; different lid/body metal. Sets up molds, ganging as appropriate.
  • Performs baking, screening, wiring of molds.
  • Operates TIG/MIG welder to repair molds. Repairs mold handles; cleans parting lines, checks vents, and other maintenance and minor repairs as appropriate on or off rotation equipment to maintain production. Reports and transfers molds requiring significant repair to mold repair shop.
  • Sets up and operates various machines and equipment to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals using cut-off saw, basic welding equipment, milling machine, drill press, grinding, polishing equipment and hand tools.
  • Maintains mold log. Diagrams new molds, ganging, etc. Identifies location and other critical data. Adds new molds, notes obsolete molds.
  • Maintains parts inventory for pre-balancing, mold repairs. Orders parts from authorized supplier(s).
  • Fills in for Roto Cast Operators during breaks, absences, etc. as required.
  • Maintains established quality and quantity standards. Follows prescribed safety precautions, established company and department policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision.
  • Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Maintains daily production and other records as required.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement.
  • Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job. Performs additional duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent specific experience.
  • Must have previous experience with basic equipment such as cut off saws, grinders, drill press and other hand tools.
  • Must have basic math skills to perform simple calculations
  • Must have a valid driver's license and pass the internal forklift driving test.
  • Must have the ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.

  • Prior welding experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
