Purpose of the Role

The Electrical MV/HV Pre-Commissioning Lead is responsible for planning, leading, and executing medium and high-voltage electrical pre-commissioning activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient project delivery. This role plays a vital part in Worley's mission to deliver sustainable change by driving technical excellence and fostering innovation in the commissioning and start-up phases of projects. The individual will serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and guidance to project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the installation, testing, and pre-commissioning of medium and high-voltage electrical systems, including MCCs, switchgear, and associated infrastructure.
  • Develop, implement, and manage detailed pre-commissioning plans and schedules to align with project timelines and objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring proper training, guidance, and knowledge transfer.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractor activities to ensure adherence to project specifications, safety protocols, and performance standards.
  • Conduct thorough inspections, audits, and troubleshooting to verify system readiness and ensure operational reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and project management teams to resolve complex technical challenges and ensure alignment across all project phases.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring that all pre-commissioning activities comply with Worley's HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) policies and industry regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and methodologies for pre-commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing technical expertise and recommendations to support project decisions.
  • Contribute to Worley's sustainability goals by incorporating energy-efficient practices and sustainable solutions into pre-commissioning strategies.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent trade qualification supported by extensive hands-on experience and professional development.
  • Significant experience in medium and high-voltage systems, with demonstrated expertise in installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment such as MCCs and switchgear.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading pre-commissioning teams on large-scale, complex projects within the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors.
  • Deep understanding of electrical safety standards, codes, and regulatory compliance, with a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Strong subcontractor management skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships and drive accountability.
  • Advanced planning and organizational skills, capable of developing detailed schedules and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a talent for fostering collaboration and aligning diverse stakeholders toward shared goals.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving expertise to address technical challenges and optimize operational performance.
  • Familiarity with data-driven systems, processes, and tools used in commissioning and start-up activities, with the capability to train and mentor others.
