Purpose of the Role

The Electrical Pre-Commissioning/Commissioning Lead is responsible for planning, implementing, and leading pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for complex projects within the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors. This role ensures that electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Worley's commitment to delivering sustainable change.

Acting as a technical expert and thought leader, this position plays a vital role in bridging current energy demands with future sustainability goals. By providing leadership, oversight, and technical guidance, the role supports Worley's ambition to help customers transition to more sustainable energy solutions while maintaining operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and sustainability standards.
  • Develop and implement detailed testing plans, procedures, and schedules for pre-commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Oversee and verify electrical system terminations, including point-to-point checks and system integrity verifications.
  • Provide clear direction, technical expertise, and mentorship to commissioning teams to ensure high performance and alignment with project objectives.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, and stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues and support seamless project delivery.
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory, environmental, and company standards while supporting the transition to sustainable energy practices.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks in pre-commissioning and commissioning phases, implementing proactive solutions to maintain project timelines and outcomes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, offering consultation and technical advice on electrical commissioning practices across multiple projects.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement within commissioning processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Support Worley's vision of delivering sustainable change by integrating energy transition considerations into commissioning strategies and project planning.

  • University degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent trade qualification with extensive hands-on experience and specialized training.
  • Significant experience leading electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities within large-scale industrial projects, particularly in energy, chemicals, or resource sectors.
  • Advanced technical expertise in electrical systems, including termination verification, point-to-point testing, and commissioning methodologies.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to plan, organize, and oversee diverse commissioning teams, fostering collaboration and performance excellence.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability practices and the ability to incorporate sustainable solutions into project execution strategies.
  • Advanced problem-solving abilities, capable of making independent technical decisions and recommendations with consideration for project, environmental, and social impacts.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively influence and guide stakeholders on complex technical matters.
  • Proficiency with commissioning systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to troubleshoot and support others in their use.
  • Demonstrated capability to work autonomously while aligning with organizational policies, objectives, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in all aspects of pre-commissioning and commissioning work.
