As an Engineer in Training II, you will support activities necessary to operate and maintain natural gas salt cavern wellheads, wellbores and cavern assets. You will work closely with operations, business services, and contract personnel to ensure safe and compliant operations with the regulations covering salt dome storage facilities as well as adherence to company policies.

Here's what you will do:

  • Support activities necessary to operate and maintain natural gas salt cavern wellheads, wellbores and cavern assets.

  • Work closely with operations, business services, and contract personnel to ensure safe and compliant operations with the regulations covering salt dome storage facilities as well as adherence to company policies.

  • Support audits by state and federal regulator agencies such as Railroad Commission of Texas, Louisiana Department of Energy and Natural Resources (LADENR), and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).

  • Schedule and coordinate regulatory and company required cavern storage well testing program with operations, storage optimization, commercial and other business groups.

  • Provide engineering evaluation of all changes, upgrades, and repairs on cavern storage wells. This requires evaluation of data from downhole wireline tools, casing inspections, and mechanical integrity tests.

  • Coordinate all aspects of cavern well workover operations including budgeting, scheduling, planning, plan execution and record keeping.

  • Support the preparation of engineering and regulatory required reports on issues involving underground gas storage.

  • Propose, justify and implement O&M and Capital project develop to maintain storage field safe operations.

  • Participating in SOP development and maintenance, storage risk assessments and mitigations.

Who you are:

You have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2-4 years of experience Gas Storage or E&P industries.

    • Preferred Engineering degrees include Petroleum and Geological Engineering

Preferred Assets:

  • Position incumbent will have a high level of expertise and experience in most of the following key gas storage engineering job skills:

    • Knowledge of API well design standards and recommended practices, and related industry equipment operations and maintenance codes and practices.

    • Previous experience in gas cavern storage operations.

    • Cavern Storage facility surface and subsurface equipment knowledge.

    • Knowledge of conducting well logging operations and well log analysis including petrophysical logs.

    • Knowledge of State oil & gas and gas storage regulatory requirements in the Southeast Region of the United States.

    • Safe well site conditions and requirements.

    • Knowledgeable of a wellbore integrity and inspection program including running and analyzing pipe inspection logs and understanding well workover concepts as it pertains to Gas Storage.

    • Contracting, managing, and supervising outside technical consultants and service companies.

    • Strong computer hardware and software skills including database, GIS/mapping and log analysis applications.

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed both in office and the field.

  • Travel approximately 25% of the time.

  • Exposed to stressful situations where smart decisions must be made without supervision.

  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this employee include vision and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
