Job Summary:


The role is responsible for leading the development and integration of advanced machine systems and technologies to support JOA's strategic objectives. This includes overseeing new system development from research through commercialization, utilizing computational modeling for system optimization, and defining process capabilities. The position requires monitoring industry trends, customer needs, and emerging technologies to identify threats and opportunities, ensuring JOA remains market-leading


Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Present JOA technology or project updates to stakeholders
  • Monitor external developments in materials, customer product design, technology, and IP to identify external threats and opportunities. Recommend developments as needed to be market leading.
  • Define process capability and acceptable deviations from standard and newly developed units.
  • Lead new systems development efforts from research, definition, testing/validation, through commercialization and integration into standard product line offerings.
  • Create and utilize computational models to predict and optimize machine systems.
  • Solve technical problems utilizing a disciplined problem-solving process, analytical methods, and exercising strong technical judgment.
  • Operate as the central point of contact and control for any proposed changes to standard vendors, process designs, and technology libraries.
  • Validate critical countermeasures and contingency plans to mitigate identified risks within the design area.
  • Provide leadership for the succession of key process and technology knowledge.
  • Collaborate with others (including in person) to proactively develop broad-based personal knowledge, skills, and abilities towards key JOA competencies.

Job Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred; or equivalent academic and practical experience.
  • 6 years' applicable experience in converting equipment system design preferred.
  • Ability to effectively utilize complex software for problem solving and documentation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present findings in a group.
  • Ability to envision and synthesize new machine and subsystem concepts given key product attribute targets.
  • Ability to collaborate among a team and provide work direction of key tasks.



Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to work a full day on a computer
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to twenty-five pounds in weight
  • Ability to use hand tools and monitoring/testing equipment
  • Ability to occasionally climb a ladder and maneuver into tight spaces
  • Ability to work in an environment that is loud and without air conditioning during machine commissioning and/or problem-solving
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (safety shoes, glasses, ear protection)
  • Must travel for company business up to (~20%) international and domestic travel
