Job Description

Job Summary:



Mercury Systems is seeking a talented and driven Quality Engineer to help advance cutting-edge technology for mission-critical aerospace and defense applications. As a member of the Quality team, this role plays a pivotal part in guiding design efforts to ensure quality, manufacturability, and producibility. The successful candidate will ensure that project quality plans align with customer requirements as well as applicable standards and regulations. Serving as a key technical liaison between engineering development and manufacturing, providing metrics and feedback on the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and leading continuous improvement initiatives. This position will focus on delivering high-quality products that meet customer expectations, while identifying opportunities to enhance yield, streamline processes, and reduce product costs.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Prevent defects through use of process, supplier, manufacturing, and quality controls.
  • Support the development and implementation of product quality plans, PFMEA, control plans
  • Ensure product compliance through process development, ex: testing and inspection.
  • Support the qualification of new suppliers
  • Assist in the evaluation and improvement of manufacturing processes, through lean concepts and Six Sigma, while driving a lean quality culture.
  • Support the root-cause and corrective action process, work with lead quality engineers, other functional disciplines, suppliers and customers.
  • Support the review and approval of ECOs. Participate in effective review, implementation, and flow down of changes (ECOs) into manufacturing and the supply chain, including material disposition actions.
  • Support and drive efficient processing of customer RMAs, effective failure analysis, and responsive communication to customers.
  • Interface and communicate with customers regularly, providing quality status as required.
  • Support and facilitate continuous improvement of product and process.
  • Monitor, measure and communicate metrics on a predicted cadence.
  • Support the review customer score cards and ensure alignment of improvement initiatives to customer satisfaction; drive 8D corrective action.
  • Support and promote adherence to the Quality Management System (AS9100), and drive improvements.
  • Perform first article inspections IAW AS9102.


Required Qualifications:



  • Typically requires one year of experience or less and a technical Bachelor's Degree.
  • Knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes such as soldering, machining, brazing/welding, painting and plating.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization, supporting multiple products and projects.
  • Proven record of initiative, problem solving and the ability to recognize and implement improvements.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working with electronics
  • Understanding of GD&T requirements
  • Experience with Agile PLM (or similar), Oracle, Solidworks, Jira, and Jama software
  • Familiarity with the following workmanship criteria: IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD, MIL-STD-883
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of AS9100 rev D and working in aerospace environment
