Position Summary:



  • The Emergency Medicine Billing Coordinator is responsible for providing an accurate bill for each outpatient visit to the Emergency Department.
  • The biller will review the patient's medical record, extracting billable charges from the physician's and nurse's documentation.
  • The charges will be converted to the established revenue and procedures codes. These codes are recorded on the paper bill for data entry into the Keane Billing System.


  • The biller will be responsible for reconciling each day's work to ensure a bill is generated for each patient presenting for treatment and who was discharged from the Emergency Department.


  • The position requires the Billing Coordinator to perform the Duties of an ESC III (Sr.), which are inclusive upon the Supervisor's request.



Shift: Day Shift



Location: JHH, Telecommuting, Baltimore, MD 21287



Education/Experience:

1. Required through completion of high school education.

2. Minimum of 2 years work experience as an ESC III (Sr.) or equivalent in an Emergency Department
Setting required.



Required Licensure, Certification, and Ongoing Training:



  • Successful completion of the department training program and all related competency assessments.
  • Certification in various computer systems as necessary.
  • Hospital training and certification in human subject research enrollment and HIPAA.


Salary Range: Minimum /hour - Maximum /hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
