About The Role:

As a Geotechnical Project Engineer, you will oversee the management and execution of geotechnical engineering services across Ohio and neighboring states. Your projects will encompass subsurface explorations, slope stability evaluations, construction support services, and more, supporting a variety of civil infrastructure projects, including roadways, bridges, and buildings.



  • Data Evaluation: Evaluate and synthesize intricate geotechnical laboratory test results and field data to inform project decisions.
  • Engineering Expertise: Apply robust geotechnical engineering principles to analyze shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, and settlement. Provide recommendations for ground improvement where necessary.
  • Communication: Regularly communicate with subcontractors and external clients to ensure project alignment. Assist in training junior staff and contribute to business development efforts for S&ME.
  • Technical Reporting: Write detailed reports, prepare comprehensive proposals, and actively participate in marketing and business development pursuits.
  • Leadership: Lead by example, actively supporting internal policies and practices, including health and safety, risk management, project management, and quality management.



About You:



  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • You have a minimum of 6+ years of professional experience
  • You have a Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • You have experience working on Ohio DOT projects, a plus
  • You have excellent computer skills, including, at a minimum, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD



You Are Willing and Able to:

Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:



  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions outside normal business hours, as needed
  • Walking over rough and uneven terrain, maneuvering the field equipment safely
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Traveling out of town and possibly overnight for assignments as needed
