Dawn Inspire Internship Program interns will benefit from:

Work Eligibility & Travel Requirements: 5 days a week, working on-site at our Dawn Foods Louisville Manufacturing Facility.

Interns will be required to be on-site at the Corporate Jackson office from May 18 - May 21 for onboarding, and from August 4 - 7 for final presentations. These are mandatory in-person participation dates for the internship program.

What Does It Take to be a Manufacturing Operations Intern at Dawn Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications for the Dawn Inspire Internship Program:



  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree, with an interest in working in the Consumer Product Goods or Food industry.
  • The candidate must be entering their junior year or beyond.
  • Current academic status must reflect good performance in relation to institutional academic standards
  • Strong interest in manufacturing and/or continuous improvement or field related to the internship
  • Basic knowledge of relevant concepts, principles and tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Adaptability and willingness to embrace feedback and eagerness to learn and take on new challenges



What Will Set You Apart?



  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Kaizen
  • Understanding of workflow optimization and production scheduling
  • Basic understanding of data interpretation for KPIs like yield, downtime, and throughput
  • Analytical thinking for root cause analysis
  • Ability to propose small improvements and spot inefficiencies
  • Careful observation of operational processes to ensure compliance and efficiency



What You'll Do as a Manufacturing Operations Intern



  • Conduct research on assigned topics and present findings to the team
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm ideas and contribute to problem-solving efforts
  • Shadow and learn from experienced professionals in your field of interest
  • Actively seek opportunities to learn and develop new skills relevant to your career goals
  • Take initiative to suggest process improvements and contribute innovative ideas
  • Demonstrate the "Dawn Values" of Team Dawn and support our culture throughout the duration of the Internship Program
  • Identified projects within the scope of your position:


  • Review and analyze production data on priority production lines
  • Identify top losses across availability, performance, and quality
  • Conduct Line Downtime analysis by investigating codes, frequency, and duration
  • Create, lead, and/or support Kaizen events to drive efficiency improvements
  • Evaluate and analyze OEE Tracking & Reporting
  • Build and/or refine Redzone Dashboards for improved shift-to-shift OEE visibility
  • Conduct Cycle Time (time studies) and Bottleneck Mapping
  • Analyze material loss points across batching and packing
  • Conduct SMED (Changeover Reduction) Study by Line
  • Support development and/or enhancement of Standard Work documentation
  • Review existing Training Matrix and conduct full gap analysis - map cross-training coverage on each Line
  • Complete Benchmarking between Lines and/or shifts to document best practices and support standards adoption.

Compensation

Undergraduate - $26/hr

Graduate - $28/hr
