Overview

Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a part-time Associate Degree Nursing Instructor at any of our four campus locations. (Ashland, New Richmond, Rice Lake or Superior)

The Part Time Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Instructor will provide clinical and/or simulation instruction to nursing students. The instructor will teach in a discipline area in which they have specific training and competence. Instructors will supervise, guide, and teach nursing students at campus clinical sites or simulation locations. Clinical courses are typically offered in five-to-twelve-week blocks and consist of a two-day per week commitment. Travel to the Health Education Center in Shell Lake for simulation activities may be required.

  • Supervise care provided by a group of students (usually 6 to 8 students in a group) while they complete their clinical rotation or simulation experiences.
  • Provide quality care for patients involved in selected learning experiences within the standards of nursing practice and at the appropriate student level.
  • Adhere to policies and requirements of the affiliating healthcare partner.
  • Deliver, assess, and adapt effective instruction that meets the diverse needs of students.
  • Apply a variety of instructional strategies, implement learning plans, facilitate learning, and revise teaching practice.
  • Promote a culture of continued student success, implement strategies to promote learner persistence and meet the needs of multi-generational learners, demonstrate learner-centered communication, and utilize available student support services.
  • Collaborate and communicate promptly with designated full-time nursing faculty and/or Associate Dean of Nursing related to planning of instruction, including learning plans and evaluation strategies and student concerns.
  • Adhere to programmatic and college policies and practices.
  • Contribute in a professional manner to the relationship between the College and the clinical partner.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Coordinate with clinicians at the clinical site to make student patient assignments.
  • Teach students how to perform duties in the clinical site and answer their questions.
  • Evaluate student clinical learning in the clinical or simulation settings.
  • Demonstrate professional behaviors to support teaching and learning and utilize varied strategies for managing the learning environment.
  • Assess effectiveness in embracing diversity, examine the impact of college, community, and student demographics on teaching and learning, and create an inclusive, effective learning environment that addresses barriers and provides reasonable accommodations.
  • Model the Employability Essentials expected of Northwood Tech students, which are to communicate clearly, think critically, and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Attend faculty meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in the ADN accreditation process, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Degree & Experience Required:

  • A graduate degree with a major in nursing; Candidate who holds a baccalaureate degree in nursing and actively enrolled and showing proof of progress in a master' program with a major in nursing, a bachelor's in nursing to doctorate program in nursing, or a doctorate program in nursing.
  • Minimum of two years (4,000 hours) occupational nursing experience
  • Direct care experience as a practicing nurse within the past five years required
  • Current, active, unencumbered registered nurse license or privilege to practice in the State of Wisconsin and eligibility to obtain a registered nurse license in the State of Minnesota. Minnesota registered nurse license may be required (Superior campus)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to obtain driver's license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience in an associate degree nursing program


Salary

FY26 Salary - Adjunct Faculty:
Non-FQAS Completion - $44/hour

FQAS Completion - $49/hour
