Job Description
Systems Administrator Classification: Exempt Reports to: Director of Technology Summary/Objective The System Administrator's responsibilities are to ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of IT infrastructure by managing servers, networks, and system software. Additional responsibilities include providing technical support, implementing updates, and maintaining backups to ensure seamless operations and data integrity. This is a hands-on technical position. Primary Functions
- System Installation, Configuration, and Monitoring
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.), and enterprise applications to ensure high availability.
- Assist in planning for future infrastructure changes and implementations.
- Network and Infrastructure Management
- Monitor and manage local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and cloud infrastructure.
- Assist in management of firewalls, VPNs, and other network security tools.
- Security and Compliance
- Implement and maintain security protocols to protect systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Cloud Systems Management
- Maintain cloud systems including Microsoft 365 tenant.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Develop and manage backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures.
- Patch and Vulnerability Management
- Apply software patches, updates, and firmware upgrades regularly.
- Assist in vulnerability management and remediation.
- Asset and License Management
- Track hardware and software inventory.
- Ensure proper licensing and renewals for all systems and applications.
Secondary Functions
- Serve as escalation point for Technology Support Team.
- Assist other departments as needed for project implementations.

- Prolonged periods working at a desk.
- Must be able to transport up to 30 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to access and navigate each location's facilities.
- Occasional bending, stooping, and stretching may be required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Will be required at times to work outside usual hours of business to support servers, systems, and services without impeding access to these servers and services during unsual business hours. Must be willing to rotate an on-call schedule, including evenings and weekends. Travel
Some travel is expected for this position. Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate or GED and either 5 years of related experience or a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of related experience.
- Experience with servers, network and cloud infrastructure.
- Extensive knowledge of current IT concepts, issues, practices, methodologies and trends.
- Knowledge of datacenter design principles, including networking and VLAN technologies.
- Ability to establish work priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or more than 5 years of related experience.
- CompTIA Network+, Microsoft 365 Certifications
