How You Will Make a Difference

Provides on-site support for the reprocessing of surgical instruments and trays to contracted and ORC facilities in compliance with the Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, DNV, AAMI and AORN standards and the facilities' goals and policies. Shifts: 5 days 2:00 pm -10:30 pm , 4 days 11am - 9:30 pm, 4 days 9:00 pm-7:30 am

What You Will Do

  • Supports daily operations of all activities that relate to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage processes aligned with IP professional standards and regulations.
  • Learns and trains in all assigned areas, such as, but not limited to decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage area processes aligned with IP professional standards and regulations.
  • Operates all mechanical machinery within the department such as, but not limited to, cart washers, instrument washers, steam sterilizers, low temp sterilizers, ultrasonic and drying cabinets within sterile processing.
  • Able to perform assembly on basic instrument trays aligned with IP quality and production standards.
  • Uses established policies and procedures to complete work assignments.
  • Refers all decisions beyond personal scope of responsibilities to their Manager and or STERIS leadership if necessary.
  • Reports broken and/or missing instrumentation.
  • Participates in in-services and educational offerings provided by STERIS in the facility.
  • Responds and supports requests made by STERIS leadership with ensuring requested instrumentation is prioritized and available for Customer needs.

What You Need to Be Successful

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Sterile Processing/Surgical Technologist program preferred.
  2. 6 months - 1+ years of SPD or transferrable experience required.
  3. Some states require CRCST or CSPDT certification as a prerequisite of the job.

    1. If required, must maintain certification by completing 12 Continuing Education Credit Hours annually.


  4. Basic computer skills and aptitude.
  5. Medical instrument knowledge preferred.
  6. Knowledge of sterilization and processing equipment preferred.
  7. Ability to work daily in a fast-paced, high pressure Healthcare Service environment.
  8. Awareness of LEAN concepts and ability to translate this in the work environment preferred.
  9. Communicates in a professional manner to all hospital staff, Customers and company employees via all forms of communication.
  10. Must be a team player and demonstrate flexibility to work in all areas of the department to meet production demands.

Pay range for this opportunity is $18.49 - $23.93.This position is eligible forbonusparticipation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
