The Opportunity:

Avantor is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Environmental, Health, Safety, Sustainability & Security (EHS) Analyst to support and manage key compliance and safety initiatives across our chemical manufacturing facility located in Paris KY. This role is designed for a technically skilled professional who can independently manage regulatory programs while collaborating across departments to drive EHS performance.

As an EHS Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, supporting site-wide risk reduction efforts, and contributing to a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. You will work closely with the EHS Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence in a dynamic, high-risk environment.

This is a full-time, onsite position. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Paris, KY or the surrounding areas.

What we're looking for

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, industrial technology, or related field preferred and/or equivalent experience, education and training
  • Experience: At least one (1) to two (2) years of practical EHS experience in a manufacturing environment. At least five (5) years of EHS experience without a degree in related field
    • Demonstrated ability to manage environmental permitting and compliance programs
    • Strong understanding of federal and state regulations including EPA, OSHA, and DOT
    • Proficient in conducting risk assessments and implementing corrective actions
    • Experience with HAZWOPER, ESG reporting, and ergonomic evaluations
    • Familiarity with emergency response planning and conducting drills
    • Hands-on experience with LOTO procedures, PPE programs, and respiratory protection protocols
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • 24-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER
    • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
    • Experience supporting emergency response planning and participating in site drills or incident reviews
    • Familiarity with maintaining risk registers, tracking EHS performance metrics, and assisting with trend analysis to identify improvement opportunities
    • Exposure to sustainability initiatives, including recycling programs and waste minimization strategies
    • Ability to coordinate with external consultants or vendors for sampling, monitoring, or compliance-related support
    • Working knowledge of digital EHS platforms or data systems used for reporting and compliance tracking

Who you are:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools and MS365 Apps
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to use Mathematics, Logic, and Reasoning
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking (small to medium-sized groups)
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator on the job (as needed)
  • Possess a professional safety certification or ability to obtain one within the first six (6) months of employment

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Manage and support environmental compliance programs including air, water, and waste permitting.
  • Maintain and update SPCC plans and ensure SARA Title III reporting accuracy.
  • Conduct site-wide risk assessments and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver training on HAZWOPER, PPE, LOTO, and emergency response.
  • Coordinate ergonomic assessments and implement workplace improvements.
  • Support ESG data collection and reporting efforts.
  • Facilitate emergency drills and ensure readiness across all departments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive EHS excellence.
  • Maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and corporate reporting.
  • Provide technical guidance to site teams.

DECISIONS RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Determining appropriate corrective actions following incidents, audits, or inspections.
  • Selecting and implementing control measures for identified risks and hazards.
  • Approving site-specific EHS procedures and training content.
  • Prioritizing EHS initiatives based on risk, compliance deadlines, and operational impact.
  • Advising leadership on regulatory changes and their implications for site operations.
  • Escalating non-compliance issues and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Allocating resources for emergency preparedness and response activities.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Office environment: Constant sitting while using the computer. Constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents. Constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication. Must be able to function well under peak activity periods. Occasional lifting up to 20-50 lbs.
