Job Summary: VersaTech, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Appian Certified Developer to join our fast-paced Federal project team. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing and enhancing the Government Acquisition Management Suite (GAMS) using Appian's low-code automation platform. This is a milestone-driven environment where meeting deadlines, adapting quickly, and delivering quality solutions are critical to success. Prior experience with Appian GAMS implementation is highly desirable. Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and experience collaborating in team-based settings is a strong plus.
Salary: $120,000 to $140,000 depending on experience. Discretionary annual bonus based on performance.
Location: McLean, VA at Appian Headquarters
Responsibilities:
Design, configure, and deploy Appian applications and workflows in alignment with technical and Federal client requirements.
Support the implementation and configuration of Appian's Government Acquisition Management Suite (GAMS), tailoring functionality to mission needs.
Translate user stories and requirements into scalable Appian solutions, collaborating with business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders.
Build, test, and deploy Appian objects (interfaces, process models, data types, integrations, and reports).
Ensure solutions comply with Federal standards, including Section 508 accessibility and FedRAMP security requirements.
Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and consistently contribute to sprint commitments.
Provide production support, troubleshooting, and performance optimization in a high-visibility environment.
Maintain thorough technical documentation for all configurations, integrations, and application components.
Perform peer reviews of other developers' work to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to agency standards.
Collaborate with QA testers and raining teams to ensure user stories, acceptance criteria, and training needs are fully addressed.
Prepare and showcase new functionality during application demos and sprint reviews.
Expectations & Milestones:
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Consistently meet milestone deadlines across design, development, sprint reviews, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production releases.
- Proactively raise and resolve risks or blockers that may impact delivery timelines.
- Deliver high-quality, peer-reviewed code aligned with agency standards and sprint velocity goals.
- Contribute to achieving project-level performance metrics tied to Federal milestones and deliverables.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Appian Certified Application Developer (ACAD) or higher certification.
- 2+ years of professional experience in Appian development (design, configuration, deployment).
- Strong understanding of Appian objects: process models, records, reports, interfaces, and integrations.
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and manage workload across multiple priorities.
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience implementing Appian's Government Acquisition Management Suite (GAMS).
- Familiarity with Federal IT environments and compliance standards (FedRAMP, NIST, Section 508).
- Experience integrating Appian with external systems (REST, SOAP, databases, APIs).
- Knowledge of relational databases (SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Additional Appian certifications (Senior Developer, Lead Developer, Appian Analyst).
