Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Vital Statistics Registrar - Evening Shift - Mineola.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for following and complying with hospital, departmental policies and procedures as well as regulatory and
accrediting agency requirements for the accurate and timely processing of birth certificates and death certificates in the
NYSDOH electronic system.
Job Responsibilities:
- Directly interacts with parents and family members to ensure that a birth certificate is created for each live birth and death certificate is created for each death.
- Enters and transmits all required data in a timely fashion and as required by the NYSDOH.
- Reports all induced and spontaneous terminations of pregnancy in accordance with NYSDOH regulations.
- Reports sterilization data in accordance with NYSDOH regulations.
- Communicates directly with new parents, physicians, vital statistics, funeral homes, and health department to expedite the processing of and timely submission of birth and/or death certificates.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
1-2 years Customer service experience in a healthcare or related setting.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel). Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, customer service, organization, and multitasking skills. Customer service experience in a Healthcare or related setting. Knowledge of medical terminology.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $39,878.31 - $63,421.86 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
