Summary

The BlueSkye Engineering team is responsible for managing engineered solutions and automation projects for our customers. The Company values engagement and partnership, and Engineers who share our passion for building strong relationships with stakeholders and driving successful project outcomes.

As a member of the BlueSkye Engineering Team, the Implementation Engineer is responsible for, though not limited to, planning and executing project deliverables within scope, time, quality, and budget constraints. Under minimal supervision, this job requires deep knowledge of the project requirements to manage large-scale automation and engineering solutions projects for our customers. The Implementation Engineer will work across multiple areas to manage deliverables related to robotics & automation, IT systems, and facilities. This effort extends from project initiation through customer acceptance and handover to aftermarket service.

The Implementation Engineer forms a strong relationship with the business stakeholders, customers, and key vendors, while partnering to resolve project related issues, providing project status updates, and escalating issues and concerns appropriately. To be successful in this role you must be willing and able to partner with business stakeholders, "roll up your sleeves," and work with urgency to hit execution milestones and complete implementation plans. Prior implementation, controls engineering, electrical engineering experience in one or more of the following industries or functions is preferred: robotics & automation, material handling / logistics, manufacturing, warehousing & fulfillment, facilities, or ERP implementation.

Essential Functions

  • Championing project delivery through the project lifecycle, including:
    • Initiation: Align with sales and the solutions team to identify high-level requirements & all impacted stakeholder groups and project scope. Identify Implementation scope and work with Project Management to build realistic schedule and execution plan.
    • Execution: Responsible for commissioning automated systems, troubleshooting IT systems with internal and external resources, coordinate and execute implementation plan, FAT completion, customer training, and go-live & stabilization.
    • Scope: Ensures BlueSkye commitments are clearly executed and protects the project from scope creep.
    • Quality: Gets the details rights. Ensures implementation is smooth and up to BlueSkye standards.
    • Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify and resolve problems; manage issue/risk processes.
    • Communications: Establish communication plans and ensure all stakeholders are informed/engaged. Updates Execution Team regularly and acts as eyes and ears while on site.
    • Change Management: Partner with stakeholders to formally integrate change management best practices and frameworks to ensure sustainability of the implemented solution.
    • Facilitation: Able to bring together a group of people to chart out the best possible course for the project to ensure its success.
    • Closure: Ensures customer satisfaction through successful achievement of final acceptance and handover to aftermarket/service. Actively uses, tracks and shares lessons learned within the organization.
  • Organizes effectively and can clearly articulate plans, tasks, and workload
  • Reviews requirements and ensures all requirements are realistic and can be met (with supporting documentation and clear completion criteria)
  • Work with solutions team to estimates the costs, resources, and time required to complete each project implementation and allocates resources and tasks to ensure these targets are met
  • Supports and executes implementation plan and monitors progress and performance against this plan
  • Identifies and coordinates workstreams, and orchestrates collaboration across the project team
  • Monitors the status of implementation, escalating risks and providing daily/regular updates
  • Conducts project meetings and prepares regular reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team
  • Coordinates the activities of vendors and outside contractors to ensure they are integrated into the project and that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
  • Responsible and accountable for delivering large projects on-time, on budget, and meeting functional and quality specifications as the main customer facing contact during the project
  • Manages issues, risks, and changes using appropriate and agreed upon processes and tools
  • Assists with defining and leading Change Management associated with a project
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Controls, Electrical, Software Engineering
  • Preferred: Degree in Software or Electrical Engineering
  • Required: Applicant should have 1+ years' experience in Implementation supporting medium to large projects as the assigned Engineer accountable for success
  • Applicant should have experience with logistics & material handling robotics and automation projects and technologies: for example autonomous mobile robots (AMR), automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), conveyors, sortation, co-bots, etc
  • Requires 2+ years in a client or senior stakeholder facing role, with strong communication skills
  • Applicant should have exposure and basic understanding of Lean / continuous improvement, Health & Safety, and PMI / Agile methodologies
  • Proven ability to drive projects from concept through completion with minimal guidance
  • Familiarity or experience working with continuous improvement specialists to deliver projects
  • Willing to travel up to 75% to project sites as necessary
  • Willing to relocate to Atlanta, GA
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Geek+ and VisionNav Product Suite

Computer Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel (knowledge of formulas and data analysis).
  • Intermediate skills with team productivity tools (SharePoint, Smartsheet, etc.).
  • Project Management Tools (Monday.com, etc.)
